Cyient Semiconductor Partners with MIPS for Advanced RISC-V Solutions

Cyient Semiconductor, a leading custom silicon company, has announced a strategic collaboration with MIPS, a global leader in RISC-V processor IP. This partnership aims to develop domain-optimized ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) and ASSP (Application-Specific Standard Product) solutions that leverage MIPS’ advanced processor technology.

The collaboration focuses on real-time, safety-critical applications, power delivery, and compute efficiency for industries such as automotive, industrial automation, and data centers. By integrating Cyient’s Analog Mixed Signal capabilities with MIPS’ Atlas CPU IP, the companies seek to enhance motor control and data center power delivery systems.

Suman Narayan, CEO of Cyient Semiconductors, emphasized the importance of intelligent power delivery in modern computing: > “As compute systems scale from cloud to the edge, intelligent power delivery is emerging as a key enabler of performance and efficiency. Our collaboration with MIPS allows us to bring together embedded intelligence and advanced power architectures in custom silicon platforms built on a scalable, open foundation”.

MIPS’ M8500 microcontrollers are designed for real-time compute workloads, making them ideal for power efficiency and motor control applications. Sameer Wasson, CEO of MIPS, highlighted the synergy between the two companies: > “Building around our best-in-class real-time and control-loop performance and efficiency, Cyient can bring their unique capability in intelligent power delivery into custom ASIC and ASSP designs to build differentiated solutions that meet our customers’ unique needs”.

With the growing demand for software-defined vehicles, data center infrastructure, and industrial automation, this partnership is expected to accelerate the development of custom silicon solutions that are easy to program, cost-efficient, and free from proprietary lock-ins.

This collaboration marks a significant step toward next-generation semiconductor innovation, reinforcing Cyient Semiconductor and MIPS’ commitment to power-efficient, scalable computing solutions.
