Microchip Unveils Next-Gen CryptoAuthentication ICs: ECC204, SHA104, and SHA105 for Enhanced Security

Microchip Technology Inc. has recently expanded its TrustFLEX platform by introducing three new CryptoAuthentication ICs: the ECC204, SHA104, and SHA105. These additions aim to simplify the development process and enhance security for a wide range of applications, including consumer, industrial, data center, and medical sectors.

Key Features and Benefits

Pre-Configured for Ease of Use: The ECC204, SHA104, and SHA105 ICs come pre-configured with defined use cases, customizable cryptographic keys, and code examples. This pre-configuration significantly reduces development time and minimizes design costs.

Enhanced Security: These ICs are hardware-based secure storage devices designed to keep secret keys hidden from unauthorized attacks. They meet high-security standards, including the Common Criteria Joint Interpretation Library (JIL) High rated secure key storage requirements and certifications from the NIST Entropy Source Validation (ESV) and Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP).

Broad Compatibility: Microchip’s CryptoAuthentication ICs are small, low-power devices compatible with any microprocessors (MPUs) or microcontrollers (MCUs). This flexibility makes them suitable for securing industrial, medical devices, battery-powered equipment, and disposable applications.

Support for Development Tools: The new ICs are supported by Microchip’s Trust Platform Design Suite, which provides code examples and learning materials. They are also compatible with the MPLAB® X Integrated Development Environment (IDE), product-specific evaluation boards, and the CryptoAuthLib library.

Strategic Impact

Nuri Dagdeviren, Corporate Vice President of Microchip’s secure computing group, emphasized that the addition of these pre-configured devices to the TrustFLEX platform will facilitate leveraging Microchip’s secure provisioning services for a broader set of applications. This platform expansion continues to strengthen Microchip’s portfolio, making security authentication ICs more accessible and optimized for high-volume, cost-sensitive applications.
