STMicroelectronics has unveiled a compact 12kW power delivery prototype designed for NVIDIA’s new 800VDC data center architecture—marking a major leap in high-voltage efficiency for AI infrastructure.

Why 800VDC Is a Game-Changer
Traditional 54V rack systems are hitting their limits. NVIDIA’s 800VDC architecture enables:
- Megawatt-scale compute racks for massive AI workloads
- Lower current transmission, reducing copper and thermal losses
- Simplified power distribution, boosting overall system efficiency
ST’s prototype fits this vision, delivering 12kW in a smartphone-sized footprint using advanced GaN technology.
Inside the ST Power Module
- Gallium Nitride (GaN) transistors for high-speed switching and thermal performance
- High-frequency operation to shrink passive components
- Integrated control and protection for robust deployment
ST also released a white paper detailing layout, EMI control, and thermal strategies.
Ecosystem Momentum
Validated by NVIDIA and showcased at OCP 2025, ST’s module supports:
- Scalable rack and pod-level deployment
- Compatibility with NVIDIA GPU platforms
- Reference designs for OEMs and ODMs
Industry Impact
This prototype sets the stage for:
- Higher efficiency and lower cooling costs
- Simplified infrastructure for AI growth
- Blueprints for future high-voltage data centers
