Valeo and ROHM Semiconductor have announced a collaboration to develop cutting-edge power modules for electric motor inverters, aiming to enhance the efficiency and performance of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).
Leveraging ROHM’s 2-in-1 Silicon Carbide (SiC) molded module TRCDRIVE pack, specifically designed for traction inverter drives, this partnership aims to address challenges in miniaturization, efficiency, and reliability. Valeo will combine its expertise in mechatronics, thermal management, and software with ROHM’s advanced power modules, setting new industry standards for high-voltage inverters.
The collaboration, which began in 2022, is expected to optimize cost and performance by improving energy efficiency, reducing heat generation, and enhancing the reliability of powertrains. Valeo plans to start supplying a first series project in early 2026, contributing to the improvement of the next generation of xEV inverters.
Xavier Dupont, CEO of Valeo’s Power Division, and Wolfram Harnack, President of ROHM Semiconductor GmbH, both expressed their enthusiasm for this partnership, highlighting the potential to accelerate the transition to more efficient and affordable electric mobility.
By combining their strengths, Valeo and ROHM are poised to make a substantial impact on the future of electric mobility, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient automotive industry. to revolutionize IoT connectivity, making deployment easier and more efficient for global applications.
